Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy that helps people manage their problems by understanding and making changes to the way they think and behave. It’s commonly used to treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.
According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, CBT is one of the recommended treatments for many mental health conditions because it has been shown to be effective and has a strong evidence base.
CBT is collaborative, which means that you and the therapist work together to explore the problems and develop strategies to address the issues. CBT is goal orientated and between session tasks are frequently agreed to maintain momentum and learning from the sessions.

EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy used to help people heal from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. According to NICE guidelines, it is effective for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). During EMDR, a therapist will guide you to focus on traumatic memories while moving your eyes back and forth, typically following their finger or lightbar, or using other forms of bilateral stimulation, including tapping. This process helps to reduce the emotional impact of these memories and reframe negative thoughts. You can expect to discuss your history, learn relaxation techniques, and participate in several sessions of the guided bilateral stimulation process. Many people find significant relief from their symptoms after undergoing EMDR therapy.
EMDR assessment and treatment sessions last between 60-90 minutes, depending on the stage of treatment and prices vary accordingly.
